Arthritis and Gout

Arthritis is the most common cause of foot pain in aging feet. See section on Arthritis.

Gout causes an inflammatory response often beginning in the joints of the big toe and is characterized by increasing joint pain, swelling and heat. Prevention includes gradual weight
reduction, avoidance of alcohol, increased fluid intake, and drug therapy.
